Paula is a professional actor and director. She has worked on programmes including ‘The Accrington Pals’ and ‘The Wild Poppy Blowing‘ for RTE Radio produced by John MacKenna. Plays include ‘Who by Fire’ and ‘The Woman at the Window‘ with Mend and Makedo Theatre Company, ‘Married to the Sea’ for Dragonfly Theatre Company and she has directed Christopher Durang’s ‘Beyond Therapy’ for Orion’s Belt Theatre Company. She has won awards for directing ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ and ‘George ‘. Paula was Director of Laois Youth Theatre and as such worked with members and writers devising original theatre productions. These include ‘Laois - A Sound History’ by Pat Boran and ‘On Track’ by Ursula de Brun. Paula has also taken part in and directed several musicals. Direction credits include ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, ‘ Annie Get Your Gun’ and ‘The Sound of Music ‘. Acting roles include Grace in ‘Annie’, Golde in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and Anna Borowski in ‘Who by Fire’. Last year Paula took on her first German role in ‘Der Vaterschaftsprozess des Zimmermans Joseph ‘. She has just come from directing ‘ Bunbury oder Ernst sein ist alles’ or as we know it ‘ The Importance of Being Earnest ‘. Paula has also worked as an actor and facilitator for theatre training companies such as Shift Theatre and ToBe theatre training. She has been adjudicating since 2007, and is a member of the Association of Drama Adjudicators. She is a founder member of the Michael Chekov Studio Dublin and holds an honors BA and MA in Modern Drama Studies. This is Paula’s second visit to Glenamaddy and is looking forward to seeing the diverse range of plays and of course the newly refurbished venue!
