History of the Group
Formed in 1983, Compántas Lir first took part on the festival circuit in 1986. In December 2014 the group achieved their long awaited goal by winning the Confined All Ireland One Act Final in Ballyshannon with their production of Nine by Jane Shepherd, and in 2016 added the title of All Ireland Confined (3 Act) winners to their list of achievements, with their production of Proof by David Auburn. Every October the group present two one-act comedies in the hugely popular annual Autumn Theatre which helps to raise much needed funds enabling the group to compete in the One Act and Three Act festivals each year, this cannot be done without the help of all its members which consists of a strong pool of actors and a skilled and dedicated crew.
